forerunner 610 NEW 2011

Garmin Forerunner 610

Touchscreen GPS Watch With Heart Rate Monitor

The Forerunner 610 is Garmin’s first running and cycling watch with full touchscreen technology and surely this is the best GPS sport watch on the market today.

The Forerunner 610 model takes everything Garmin knows about sport technology, puts it in a better product and makes it easier to use.For 610 model Garmin abandoned the touch bezel of the Garmin Forerunner 410, and equipped it with an superb touchscreen. The big advantage for touch screen is just how fast it allows you to navigate. This technology is so much faster than buttons that you may never go back to a traditional watch again. Forgetting about bezel, or button based, navigation is real easy once you’ve used the 610.Unlike the older Forerunner 310XT, the Forerunner 610 is waterproof rated at IPX7, meaning it can withstand being submerged for 30 minutes at a depth of 1m, but you should not forget that it is not intended for swimming.

Which is best: Garmin Forerunner 410 vs Forerunner 610 ???

The comparison between Forerunner 410 and the new 2011 model, Forerunner 610, is interesting for all Garmin fans and for those who want to decide what Forerunner model the will buy.The parallels are apparent and numerous, but undoubttely Forerunner 610 evolves from 410 and gives the customers many high-tech features and the performance and usability also increased a little bit.

Forerunner 410 vs Forerunner 610

Startig  with the size and elegance of both watches, we must point out that Garmin Forerunner 610 is a little bit thinner than FR410, this allows the 610 to sit on your wrist like a real watch, hard to explain but anyone would feel the difference right away. The 610 is very capable as a day-to-day watch! Both watches have comparable watch face size causing them to be simply wearable with out delivering distraction or discomfort for the user.

Regarding datafields, Forerunner 610 got 4 and Forerunner 410 models only got 3 a screen. This is a positive fact because more info on the screen means less switching between pages. An additional difference involving the Garmin 410 versus Garmin 610 is the touch screen within the Garmin ForeRunner 610 simplifies the navigation inside the watch. The touchscreen is working great and it's also a very effective solution to eliminate buttons!! Screen response is very fast and consistent. Forerunner 610 was tested with water and trough clothing and it just works fine and also allows very fast browsing trough pages and settings. Don’t expect this kind of menu action from button pressing. Thanks to the touch screen, with Forerunner 610  you can now program custom workouts on the watch unlike Forerunner 410 where you would need to make these on your computer and then send them to the watch.

Garmin’s new Hotfix technologies permits the Garmin ForeRunner 610 to acquire a satellite signal in as brief a time period as five seconds in contrast for the near 20 seconds inside the Garmin ForeRunner 410. Virtual Racer is the kind of virtual competition you always wanted! Previous virtual partner (also still exists on the Forerunner 610) allowed your to race against the computer with a fixed pace. Now virtual racer allows you to create an opponent based on any course! So you can race against your previous runs pacing. The coolest thing is that it’s not bound the course. You can choose to re run the same course or run another course. Forerunner 610 has a feature called "1 second recording"  that means that  the watch takes a sample of all data (hr, gps, time, speed) every second, that makes an even more accurate gps track.

Lastly, the charging cord within the Garmin ForeRunner 610 is refurbished and capabilities the magnetic auto-release which has extended been a component within the Mac, the Garmin ForeRunner 410’s charging program remains regular and there it's pointless to waste any longer words about it.

Bellow we you see an comparison table that includes also a price comparison(with an amazon link if you are interested in buying), our ratings and some pro and cons for 610 and 410 models.
